That sounds more fun than it is. Gremlins are absolutely tiny, smaller than any other intelligent creature. They can't even wield pickaxes or axes, and they are slow when hauling stuff. They are strict carnivores, so food is an issue. They become unhappy when not wearing clothing, but you can only make them clothes after two years, when they are citizens. What is worse is that even when friendly they will randomly claim doors and levers, which means you might find you can't close doors or bridges at key moments. I've played fortresses like that. Hilarious, but very frustrating at times.
