Water wheel rotation?
Is there a possible way for me to rotate a water wheel around? Im set up next to a stream to produce power and really dont want to have to build a bridge.

you mean attaching to the left side of the wheel versus right side? It doesn't matter which side you attach things.

True. I mean shift the wheel's facing.

Are you referring to vertical vs horizontal installation? See the window when constructing a waterwheel. It has this text: "Water wheels are 1x3 or 3x1. The long side should align with the water's flow" -- and there are big buttons to choose either the vertical or horizontal style in that window.

Better make certain your biome doesn't have water freezing some part of the year...

The self-contained Dwarven Water Reactor[www.dwarffortresswiki.org] somewhere underground is your best approach.

Personally, I tend to compartmentalize those for various tasks, rather than run a single power grid. Considering how easy it is to set up and get running, you can always dump one or two wherever power is needed (and save on power loss through long axle use).

Fortunately it doesn't. In a near jungle situation. Going to try the water reactor when I get a bit lower, this is just going to move some aquifer water up and act as a power test for the larger plans.

Personally, I'd strongly recommend a 4-wheel setup. Double the power with minimal extra setup required.

You can recalculate the water needed, I generally use a "feeder" room of 3x3+2 extra tiles to ensure it runs smoothly. Faster to dig water channels from wherever main cistern is than try to fill it with buckets, even with just two wheels.

Welp. That answers that question. Thanks
