Dwarf Fortress

Dwarf Fortress

No Visitors, No contact
My fort is currently nine years old with a population of 78, and despite
having multiple caravans and raids on my fort from a variety of races and neighboring
civilizations, my fortress is receiving zero visitors. I find that when
checking my civilizations tab on the world map I do see multiple neighbors
listed, however when hovering over those same civilizations on the map
itself they are listed as no contact.

I set my population soft cap to 80 as I planned to mostly grow from visitor
citizenship, but have not a single visitor. The visitor cap is at 200, and
my strict pop cap is 300. I have a massive tavern with prepared lavish
meals and drink, rich decorations, mugs, many open connected rooms, a
bartender, and it's set to open for all visitors. Yet still, after nine
years of visiting diplomats and caravans talking in my taverns and sharing
rumors as well as multiple petty raids from all races, it appears I have
received Zero visitors.

My new fort is coastal, but not an island. It's also in a savage wilds
jungle biome. The fort is also a few days travel from every possible race
and many decent sized civilizations. From what I've read, despite being
connected by land to everyone, simply having a coastal fort appears to have
caused similar issues for people not getting visitors or seeing "No
Contact" and for sure contacted and traded with neighbors.

I've encountered few serious issues or bugs I couldn't workaround or solve with some research, but I may have to scrap the fort and start anew due to this one. Sad to have a fort end due to weirdly specific seemingly coastal embark related bugs rather than anything interesting or story-like. But, I built the whole concept and played all nine years assuming and preparing for a visitor fueled slow growing fort and without that plus with the strange emptiness of no adventurers or visitors in general it's just screwed.

I'd greatly appreciate either any advice or ideas or honestly even anyone else interacting and confirming a similar issue, as I've seen sparse accounts of this problem but no official bug reports. I've tried Kitfox discord too and nobody seemed to know whats going on. Thanks for the help, hopefully this gets patched or I'm just missing something.

I was about to ask if you were near the ocean and then I read coastal so yea you will not get any visitors. My last fort was 27 years old and had 240+ pop and had no visitors. So I started a new one away from large body of water and now I have too many visitors.

Ive had visistors from other civs without contact but with contact they wil send trade caravans to make contact you need to choose one time tribute with a squad and not the raiding stance on a nearby village.

Diplomacy seems to obey some sort of rules. Being not always immeditately explicit, lots of hidden mehanics in this game.
I think there is usually a reason why things are or aren't happening in this game (and sometime it's a bug)
Sometimes you'll get lots of visitors even though you're fairely remote, I can't tell what makes it happen at this point. But as far as gameplay is concerned, immigrants are both more consistant and overall way more useful than Elfington McAdequateSpeaker
