Rock Coffer = BOX !!!
I have been getting Mandates for Boxes. Maybe I am a bit slow however I finally worked out that they mean Rock Coffers :2016imnotcrying:

This is just in case others have been scratching their heads.

The glass version of a chest is also actually called a box, too

The best is probably that glass cages are called terrariums, and if you fill them with water they get renamed to aquariums. Yes, you can make aquariums and catch fish to display in them. Good for mood bonuses.

I am not ashamed to admit that I did not know the word "Coffer" as anything other than a very dated reference to greed (to fill ones coffers) before playing Dwarf Fortress.

I`ve made a rock coffer and placed it, but the mayor demands didnt change.

Must be something in the ale, I only get a pass on a rock coffer. I've tried the wood\glass variants and the Mandate only goes away after building a rock coffer, no need to place.
:2016imnotcrying:

Are you doing it for a Mandate or for a room requirement?

Yeah, a coffer is something like a "trunk" or "chest" for holding personal belongings. Boxes usually made out of wood, though for dwarves they're rock.
