this is why nobody can take rimworld fans criticisms of DF seriously
One of the best rated games on steam is Placid Plastic Duck Simulator... and it literally is just a rubber duck floating in a pool.

You have to understand that people pay PPDS for the extensive modding. Really, it's more of a modding framework than a game in its own right

There is on flaw with the rating most of all old fans rated the old game on first day but the steam version has many flaws/missing features and the new players (including the one comming from Rimwold) only know the steam version and criticise it that way.

there's nothing wrong with the rating even if us old time fans rated it +1 right out of the gate... us vets definitely rated the game itself... not the graphics or the music... Placid plastic duck simulator is literally a duck floating in a pool... that's it ... and you read the reviews and peoples minds are blown. Overwhelmingly positive.

Well, first you buy the game. Then you spend double the price of the game on DLC, then you can install a couple of mod-loading mods. That's when the game really begins. After downloading just a few dozen mods to fix the UI, some bugs and a few glaring omissions from the base game, you can really go crazy.

I have one save where I've replaced the pool with a tub of spaghetti, and the rubber duck with a hat. In another game, I replaced the pool with a race track and the duck with a blue Bugatti, and I race around against other players. One mod retextures the duck with a live video feed from a guy's webcam, just some random guy. I modded a picture of my dead wife into the game, she floats around and tells me she loves me so it's very therapeutic for me

I have about 40,000 hours, all but 6 of those in the modded game, and the possibilities are literally endless

That's not a flaw. DF is simply so good that all the bugs and missing features are not important.

Not important ? the "bugs" are gamebreaking, like the general strike bug, how can that not be important ? : /
You want to play DF regardless, that's how.

All those hentai games have a incredibly high rating while beeing developed in a single drunken night. Or even less. Games like that get a good rating with people not beeing any reflective while passionated games usually get over-criticized by passionated gamer.

The rating with a low measurement of votes says nothing, sadly. Or just rarely. Especially on a platform where every 10 year old can vote for games beyond their horizon and it just requires some meme'ish things in the game to achieve a good rating.

I always love the people who are "either or".....

As if people can't like both and enjoy both immensely.

40,000? As in forty-thousand? How?!? I have 2,000 into Red Dead 2 and it's been one of the only games I've played for like five years.

I don't believe people attacking Rimworld fans as a group realize the sheer irony of it, either. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Then again, maybe the whole "DF vs RW war" is just some meta-trolling joke I'm not getting myself.

The Adams brothers could wipe their ass with a print out of the steam discussion forums and still be millionaires and not care. Actually fixing bugs etc. is pure gravy most games on here wouldn't enjoy for as long as this one will. Rimworld complainers just like saying Rimworld over and over or something.
