Struggling to make a meager study.

A friend told me I needed to make a chair in a room but I never saw a change to the dwarf I assigned as my saying that the room was now active.

It will fullfill it's purpose even if the quality is above or lower than intended. Your captain of the guard might get grumpy because it's office is crap, but they will still do interrogation in it just fine.

I had temples set up with only an altar in them.

Seemed to work just fine (outside of the musical performance/worship/whatnot), dorfs would get their prayer needs fulfilled, outsiders would come to visit, so the coffer doesn't seem like a strict requirement.

I mentioned that room will fullfill their purposes with literally nothing inside. Except for offices and bedroom (and I'm not sure for bedrooms).

You can build a temple with nothing inside and it works. It's actually how I build my first temporary temple.

But the rest I mentioned was stuff the dwarves will use if you add them.

Was pretty sure had an empty temple as well, but didn't want to mention the recollection without complete certainty of accuracy :)

I had a tomb that made the noble happy, even though it didn't have a burial. I think for office they need the chair to work, but I assume not having a chair would fullfill the "meager study" thing. Same for bedroom.
