Dwarf Fortress

Will they fix lag for long term forts?
I am new to dwarf fortress. i love it a lot. i dont like giving up on my forts just because of the lag. my frame rates drop when i get to 200 pop and i really just wanna stick with the same fort. ive done everything from killing all the cats and monsters. theres no running water besides the river next to my base and my frame rates dropped to 10 when i send my people out to raid ect ect. i just wanna be able to play, so,,, will they fix this issue?

I mean, sure! Of course they will fix it! How long are you willing to wait though.
This has been a longterm issue and will likely remain such. The fix unfortunately isn't as easy as Tarn turning off lag. For now, pause it to assign jobs to alleviate the dropped clicks issue, and, well, you're waiting with the rest of us.

I think itll be sooner than we think, because the bros now have funds to hire more staff, which will make the job a lot easier

Honestly, probably not, this is really a hardware issue, and an unfortunate side effect of the complexity of the game. There's an old joke I've heard in the community that NASA uses DF to test their super computers al a Crysis 3. As Frank above said, pausing and issuing orders is the best thing to do, I'd suggest finding a show you want to get into but normally wouldn't be able to dedicate the time to and game. Though knowing Tarn killing off all the cats probably caused false lag cause how could you (JK, I think). If it makes you feel better it's actually way more clean running than back in when it was ASCII only, because of some of the cleanup they did to make it Steam ready.

I always forget that lol. You might be right! I think it's beneficial to be pragmatic/pessimistic so as to not disappoint oneself, but in all likelihood.... It could happen!
