Hey, I have enough hassle from Forgotten Beasts, Gremlins, Crawling Eyes and crundles, I don't need to go to war with the local Elves, too. And my magma is like 150 levels under the surface, I can't just melt 'em like that.
Man, I'm gonna have to replace all my bins somehow...only way I know how to do *that* is to mark everything as trash, let it all get emptied, then reclaim it all. Booo.
I haven't found a way to bring only specific type of material bin/pot/wheelbarrow to a stockpile. It's an issue for some reasons, like yesterday I lost a masterwork wheelbarrow to a fire snake that was wandering about in my obsidian casting stockpile. It's a vermin, and I can't do much besides sending an army of cats and hope they take care of those before they burn more stuff.
I used to do that in classic a few years back, with bins being buggy things as they were.
Essentially, the minecart will never move from the stop, and will dump on the direction assigned whatever you put in it. Obviously you can set up a real route and whatnot, but that's more complex and not needed in the slightest.
Refer to the wiki article for specific stockpile command to make sure it works, but that's the minecart related thing.
If you do'nt want to do minecart, you can always make a giant stockpile which act the same. Quantum stockpile save space, which will be needed if you trade lots of "trash" like crafts.
When you Place this Stockpile beside the Place were you collect the Elf sellable stuff they should start using the Metal Bins only for this Stuff because its by far the nearest option to get a bin.
