Dwarf Fortress

Dwarf Fortress

Ideas for a disabled veteran
So my broker got in a fight with a bear, the rest of the militia took care of it but not before it broke bother of her shoulders and tore off her shirt.

Hospital dealt with it it's all "healed" but both shoulder motor nerves are severed, couldn't figure out why she was always "no job" and wearing no new shirt because I have made many...I suspect she can't put it on.

Other weird thing that happens it's she gets dehydrated and hungry and hung up with a mug at the booze stockpile...until I forbid all the booze in the fort and unforbid then she goes and drinks like normal, idk maybe she's finding someone to weave the mug into her beard or something.

Her mood is just getting worse...not that I particularly blame her, I'd exile but I feel sort of bad for her, is there any way an essentially armless dwarf can still function in a fort?

I was thinking maybe making her an entertainer at the bar or something, maybe the tavern keeper can feed her booze so I can stop micromanaging. Anyone know of other jobs dwarves can perform essentially without hands?

Record keeping? Without the ability to grasp (both arms disabled) the dwarf is going to have a hard time. It may be time to take them behind the mist generator and give them the old noble treatment (atom smasher, lava, drowning), or just retire (banish) them so they can live happily of screen where it wont pay attention to the missing ability to grasp.
Yeah performer is probably a good choice since they can sing and dance which doesnt require the use of their arms. Most jobs require the ability to haul and military is definitely out off the question. The benefit of being a tavern worker is the keeper will force feed her alcohol to keep her hydrate and euphoric since she'll likely spend all her time there as a performer.

They can totally be a legendary biter in the military. Just think of the epic stories that will be told. I mean they will most likely be very quickly and ignominiously killed but there's a chance; a chance for GREATNESS. It's either a slab or statue! No ragrets!
She'll need her arms if she want to be performer in order to use instruments, same when serving drinks as tavern keeper.

She can, nonetheless, start a career in scholarship in a library if she don't intend to write some books soon. She can also spend her time in guilds to teach people tools of her late trade, this will keep her busy and up to date with her profession.

Long story short : Hope she likes thinks abstractly and were good, because now she can only be an egghead.

A problem i have with wrestlers is they tend to shield bash everything to death but since she cant use a shield that might make her very vulnerable, or maybe she'll go on to bite everything to death and lead a life of great slaughter; enemies that bite and shake tend to be one of the leading deaths of full plate users in my experience that and fire related fun. Its actually more likely she'll just kick everything to death since i dont think wrestlers will train biting, but the definitely train kicking, I've seen wrestlers kick with as much force as they bash with their shields to the point of pulping entire limbs with a single blow.

Scholar

Entertainer, like a poet/singer?

Does her health tab say she has lost the use of her arms/hands? (No way to "grasp" anything?)

That's a good solution if she can't drink on her own.

If she has no hands/arms, it may be the only solution...

You may try a "Dress" or "Robe" to see if she can wear those. Next up, coat/cloak perhaps if those don't work? Toga? Add some socks, cloth boots... dunno if they have shoes without laces. :)

Thanks forgot about the different clothes type, here's hoping. This is the health tab.
