locked debris after invasion
hi all
I've had several goblin sieges recently and after the fighting there is equipment, ammo, clothing, bags etc. scattered everywhere in stacks, all locked. It takes me ages to manually unlock everything so my dwarves haul everything.
Anyone have a fix for this?

You can use the flyout menu in the bottom right to mass unforbid......or you can turn off the auto-forbid in standing orders under labor....but you're really better off with goblinite auto-forbidden....

oh my god i learned about the mass unlock and mass bin tools mega late. once you realize the button is there, its wildly better.

I still cant get auto-claim to work though, all goblin items are always forbidden on death regardless of the setting.

Well, if goblinite (the term used for goblin siege loot) was not auto forbidden on drop, your civilians would go and run out in the middle of the siege to go pick it up, and more likely than not meet an untimely death. Or epic story that can be passed down from generations, depending on your dwarves.

I get that, but there is a setting for it and it doesnt do anything.

Do you like building coffins and slabs? ...because unless all your dwarves are part of the militia they'll just run out there and get killed if you turn that off.

Much better if you just wait until the siege is broken and simply select pretty much the entire surface map (so long as no traders are around!!!) with the mass unforbid tool and then let the blighters round up everything. Usually this will get you bunches of bolts you never knew about as well.

Not if they're burrowed properly or you use a bridge to block them until the siege is over

After the sixth year I don't bother turtling/burrowing for anything unless I'm about to cause a cave in. Two years of combat training with iron weapons and metal hats and any invaders are swiftly reduced to goblinium by wandering militia or traps before they can blink twice. Any militia I might lose will be swiftly replaced by fresh recruits, as a pretty generous area around the fortress is patrolled by about 20% of the (generously armed) population while the gates are open and there's always more dwarves on the way.

Seriously this is the only way I've found that seems to deal with the surplus of hairy little loons migrating in for all the free beer and snacks. Armok wants blood, and blood he shall have.

Wow! If only I'd known about the mass unlock button earlier! I've spent hours clicking individual items!!

You can also go to the stocks menu, and mass unforbid or hide entire categories of items, even ones you never knew exist on your map.
