Refuse is too low priority too, but its got a labour at least.
they move corpses and body parts JUST fine to a Corpse Stockpile... what they DON"T do is grab that item I have selected for dumping and dump it somewhere. They also don't throw the corpses and body parts into the pit either.
I tried the Minecart thing to make a Quantum Stockpile.. Evidently dorfs, although they WILL drag a corpse to a corpse stockpile, they won't, in turn, put a corpse into a minecart. So that didn't work either.
I did it for mine and the dump never fails anymore. I dunno why it works that way but you can give it a try.
Actually, that's a lie. After I noticed a bit of movement in the pile I disallowed master crafted and artifact items, but that's it.. They throw things into it, if it rots, it rots.. don't care. But they STILL aren't moving that DAMN bucket and that DAMN.. DAMNED mechanism that are blocking the front door..
Wait.. next to? So, If I have a hole in the floor. I designate the HOLE to be a pit zone. a single 1x1. Then on the floor NEXT to the pit I designate another 1x1 dump zone. So they don't overlap next to? or does the dump zone have to overlap the pit zone? You know what.. don't care.. I'll do both and see what works.
Do your dwarves have hauling labors enabled?
Items that are marked for dumping are not dumped.. ONLY items NOT marked for dumping are dumped.
So. Had a guy wandering around in an area that I made a mistake in.. Instead of engraving my dungeon, with the artifact rope for those special prisoners I don't want to lose... I accidently fortified it, right next to one of my old corpse piles.. Slow and behold, there's a dorf wandering around in the corpse pile. What's he doing.. well.. he's hauling a corpse.. Why is he hauling a corpse? because I undumped EVERYTHING except for 3 items in my entire MAP (a bucket, a mechanism, and a pig tail glove)[because they are blocking my doors].. because I need those items moved right? So, ok.. I cleared the status of all the corpses in the corpse pile which is no longer a stockpile because I removed it (it was full, why have a stockpiled room full of corpses when I can just have a roomfull of corpses), anyway.. just now.. And NOW this guy is coming in to move it to one of my dump piles.. Why? Because it's a STOCKPILE.. not a dump zone.
A Corpse pile is a STOCKPILE.. not a dump pile. This means a Refuse pile is a STOCKPILE.. not a dump zone.
So, in order for this to be true the following has to apply.
1. Set an item that you want moved to not be dumped (clear dump designation) and claimed (unlocked/not forbidden)
2. Set a stockpile next to it that will accept that item.
3. Does dorf move item to stockpile Y/N?
Second.
1. Remove ALL the dump zones from the map.
2. Set a similar item to be dumped.
3. Set a dump zone on the floor next to the item the same distance/pathing as the first item.
4. Does dorf move item to dump zone Y/N?
If both are true, then you can test efficiency.. If only the moving to stockpile works then dumping does NOT work.
If both ARE true then..
1. find two items of relatively same weight..
2. pause game, set one to dump and clear tags on the other.
3. Set a stockpile to receive the non dump item..
4. Set a Dump zone at the same distance to the Dump item..
5. Which one gets moved first..
although.. that custom thing.. the custom labor labeling.. it's puts a big gold ][ for number 1 custom thing.. That's a thing that you could possibly use to find dorfs in the pile of bundles of dorfs in the varied listings of dorfs that you need to find dorfs in. I still think that the Nobles need to have that silver crown thing there, like the wood cutters, miners, barkeeps, medical dorfs, entertainers and such.. It SURE would be handy.
