Any ideas what to do with copper bars?
Other than chains I don't know what else is unique to metals. For most of my general use stuff, I resorted to much easier to source stuff like rocks and so on. As for bronze, apparently you get more out of using the combination of ores instead of bars. I have 200 bars ish from trying to extract silver for my silver mace traps.

I was thinking of using them as levelling toold for my armourer and then selling them off. But i want to make sure that I'm not overlooking something that only copper can do. Thanks

I make crafts with surplus copper to sell to elves who don't like wood. Copper is heavy, so make rings and bracelets instead of scepters which weigh more. As far as I can tell, traders buy as much as they can carry.

Copper bolts are nice and heavy, which gives them a better punch than lighter metal. You can use copper bars to make black bronze, billon, or rose gold crafts, since copper alone is so cheap. You could make tables and chairs for a copper-themed dining hall, or line hallways with copper bar floors (it's a small value upgrade over non-economic stone, but mostly just looks nice imo).

Copper is actually the best metal to make Crossbows from, as Crossbows do blunt damage in melee, so the heavier metal the better.
Other good usages of copper are bolts and shields.

Use it for training up your metal workers. Only 150 buckets or so from legendary blacksmithing.

I'd add making copper maces:

-Still an effective weapon
-It's good training for weaponsmith
-They can be traded with elves
-You can use them for traps. If you're not using 10 silver maces in each weapon trap, you could fill the empty slots in with copper maces

Can you make copper bins as well? Those would work well if you want to trade with the elves. Or if you have a map light on wood,

Oh I didn't know copper IS heavy! Yes I'm going to need as many heavy maces for the crushing weapon traps (undead kept invading me for some reason). My building was hampered by the lack of silver.

And then use some to train up my armourer into Legendary. Thanks!

I use it to replace the walls on dwarfs bedrooms. It's cheap, infinitely more worth than bare stone and now that constructed walls are engravable, that allows me to make the net value of bare-bones bedrooms skyrocket.

Make sure to craft gauntlets or boots for that, they give more exp.

Cool tips (both of them)! Thanks! I've been denying the baron title because all my rooms don't live up to standard, and this would help a lot.

Pretty sure when you use it for floors and then detail it with your best engraver it's really beneficial as well.

But yes it is also pretty heavy so also use it for stuff that you need a little weight for, but don't use it for things like blades.

Elf safe containers for trading, and menacing spikes I love pit traps.

I like to keep my bin and barrels of one material for easier sorting. Usually it's willow bins and oak barrels for roleplay.
but I have changed to copper bins in the classic version because they looked cool in the graphic pack I used. In the steam release, all bins look the same, but the color changes.
For me that's a lil' bit sad, because i am used to the old look.

And copper bins are heavy and take forever to get hauled around. From min-max point of view it's a bad decision. On the other hand, many of my bins are not moved around much.

Gems, Bars, Cloth and Clothes are in long term storage anyway.

Earrings and rings can be hoarded by some dwarves, I saw my animal trainer wearing 34, giving him a decent morale boost.
