Volcano Draining

I've tapped a volcano and am trying to drain it of magma, but it seems to have barely lost one Z level on lava, and I'm sure it's filling faster than I'm draining it. Can you still empty volcanos?

There's no emptying "my" volcano. Everything goes back to 7/7 eventually.

You can, but doing so is difficult as it ever was. You need multiple breaches and/or pumps. The further down you want to go, the more drainage you need.

pour an aquifer into it... or better a brook... but the cavern collapse notifications are painful

Volcanoes will refill over time, akin to an ocean or lake biome, and they will always refill to their topmost level. It has been that way for some time, even prior to v.50. If anything changed, they may have just made the process faster.
