Check what biomes you settled in
Settled in a area with multiple metals (playing on rare metals) with that said I forgot which is buried in what section.

Anyone know how to check your area?

I'm fairly sure you'll be able to see if you open the map, which you can open by clicking on the icon in the far bottom right. If you want to know specifically where the metals are, I don't believe there is a way to know specifically aside from scouring the wiki for at what z level different types of metals are.

Sort of, when you're embarking you can move your mouse cursor around in a area to give you a general idea of what you will find where.

Nah, opening the map provides no extra info.

ye, i know that.. but was new for me, when Bagel say that you see it after you embarg... on normal map

you can see it BEFORE you embarg.. on embarg screen.. thats why i tell you that you can in fact repeat it just to check what minerals you have there..

This is a bit of a pain in the ass, but it works for me...

PRIOR to embark, I fill out a little spreadsheet template I made about 7 or 8 years ago:

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2898718766

I have this setup for the default 4x4 embark size, if you use different embark sizes, you'd of course have to modify to do that.

But basically you need to mouse hover over each square in your embark and record the info for that square. I have the coloring/coding setup for a max of 4 biomes, which was the max at the time I created the template years ago. Not sure if that is still true, the max I've seen in an embark so far has been 3. Of course that sample size is only about 3 or 4, lol.

I then save that to a cloud folder on mega with the filename in the format:
yyyy/dd/mm FortName.xlsx

If/when Steam cloud is ever activated/fixed, that's not really necessary, but I was already doing it that way back, so just kept up with my plan. Could be I was transferring my saves between pcs via the cloud back then as well...

Because you can't, it was bad info.

Thanks, I'll have to make sure I do this next time.

I chose a place with ONLY flux, platinum and iron. Sounds awesome right? problem is I forgot what was buried where lmao.
