Obsidian short sword

Right clicking this stone on the ground shows its good for swords, googling how exactly so tells me obsidian short sword are a thing with the crafting workshop but I can't seem to find it in the order menu accessed by pressing "o". So my questions are : is this a bug and this should be present in the game on steam ? Or is this a balance change ? Or am I blind for not finding it in game ?

Obsidian swords are actually kinda broken lol.

You can get by using just them as your only weapon, and even better if you stuff 10 of them into traps, en masse lol.
And yes, it's still in game. I just checked. Rock > rock short sword.

Thanks thats my bad, I though all stone with an economic use would be listed in the order menu directly, not in a submenu. Also appreciate the trap tip :)

if you have easy access to obsidian yeah they're insane. make a ton of them, equip the masterworks, and turn the rest of them into dwarven shotgun ammo.

for some reason if i craft them i get wood short swords^^

craftdwarf workshop, "rock short sword" not "short sword".
the wood weapons are "training" weapons (or technically ones bought left behind by fleeing elves)
also it's not perfect and tends to deflect on any metal... but it's great for pre-siege gear and general cavern exploration if you don't have access to iron / steel / cheese materials yet.

I had no idea it was that useful and damn am I a fan now + they look cool. I also had this instance of them making wooden swords when I manualy input the obsidian material for the rock short sword in the work orders menu. I was confused at first why the way to make them was called "rock short sword" and not "obsidian short sword" but this is the same since I read obsidian is the only sharpenable rock in the game and the rock short sword require one of those or something like that, now it works and happily killing nature with them
