Report a translation problem
The furthest I've gotten was to something like year 600 or 700, but it always crashes around that point, or more commonly, even earlier.
The 250 year limit is the default limit.
You can change this at the world generation screen (pick year 500 instead) or by going into advanced worldgen.
I changed it to 8000 because I wanted to see a VVEEEERY old world, still stopped at 250

so no idea what exactly triggers a stop in the generation.

edit: just breached year 2227, gonna play this world :)
I really wonder what makes the game stop
ill gonna have to check that, could be my microworld didn't had much and one died eraly triggering that rate
Megabeast death % will stop it, but all of those settings are adjustable in the custom world gen settings.
fyi i used 64*64 worldgen setting, default all, world age 5000
been there
