Agitated wildlife is testing my patience
Two forts in a row I've been harassed by agitated, biome-specific wildlife. This is the second time my expedition leader has died and now I can't seem to appoint any more nobles. Losing is fun but a slow death by agitated chincillas and ravens is not.

How exactly does the agitated mechanic work? I originally thought it was a unique feature to Untamed Wilds. I settled my most recent fort in the wilderness but I have agitated eagles and ravens spawning there too. I read it occurs if you chop down too many trees, but the agitated animals also seem to strike when I begin carpentering wooden furniture. Is there a cooldown on it as well?

It seems to be broken, so they go to max-anger level immedieately and never calm down.

Some biomes don't have this mechanic at all, so it's not an issue there.

same here, I'd probably have a pile of hundreds of giant bird corpses by now if I wasn't throwing them in lava.

Yup seen this also, because most of the fish are classified as "vermin" -- I've also seen it help make my local tree-hippies mad.

It doesn't seem to be as big an issue if you make an underground cistern and denote a fishing spot that's underground entirely. Can't 100% confirm yet, but when you aren't fishing from a surface tile it seems to not happen as much... but maybe I'm just getting lucky.

Im about to start my first playthrough in untamed.. so I shouldnt fish? Would having more hunters deal with this?

I have never fished once and the agitated come and come. I trap them, tame them and slaughter them for food/leather/bone crafts. export bone crafts for whatever I need. My nobles are all draped in agitated creature artifacts created over the years. I see no problems here.

At least that way your hunters will be murdered more often than your children, hopefully.

If they matter don't let them on to the surface.

The 4 kids that survive will be one-eyed, one-legged wrestling legends by the time they become peasants, just be prepared to exile/sauna the ones that get close but don't have the right temperament for it, they'll give your guard captain a run for their money

Bright side is you don't really need/want specific hunters screws with military anyhow, just build a butcher shop and it sort of organically happens from general surface jobs.

Unless you embarked savage then you have to deal with it, preferably from a pillbox.
