How to build the tower is clear, including fortifications.
How do you station archers to actively guard?
Does that involve using the schedule + the green arrow tool to designate a location?
ah, so they are not triggering the military dwarves on their way by? I guess you need to do some manual targeting through the military menu.
yeha except they even steal stepladders.
But really, having your storage inside the fort will be safe, since you always have people inside to scare them or fight therm.
However, I don't think any flying bird can be trained for war, so I don't know if they'd fight back good enough.
Still, thinking large pasture where they live, with a retractable bridge for roof. When something big happen/siege I lock the bridge, otherwise it's opened. But I wonder if they'll just fly away or not.
Funilly enough, I captured a sea serpent (one of the biggets creature of DF), so I already kinda have a navy. It's sitting in an aquarium in the tavern right now, but I have a place to release it (release the kraken !).
