squad dropping weapons on attack command

Now I've had to deal with weird behaviors when it comes to squad keeping their gear on and stuff like that, but this one takes the cake, whenever I issue an attack command the squad drops their weapons... It's really weird to say the least, I've no idea what's causing it.

I haven't tested making a new squad yet, these members were recruited from outsiders petitioned to join for the purposes of soldiering, I haven't made any official militia cause I haven't gotten into the smithing yet, these were supposed to help while I get things going, but they are almost useless, they killed a few invaders but only survived by save scumming... I can't fathom what's causing this., I do have a few mods installed, but I don't think any of them could be causing this.

It's probably some uniform issue like usual with the military, I would check if they are assigned uniforms then also what their personal uniform says and making sure it's the right kind of weapon for the assigned weapon etc.

Now I've just got the image of a squad of miscellaneous monster hunter humans, an elf and probably like a kobold pale ghoul forming up to take on some crab made of diorite with deadly dust or some ♥♥♥♥ then seeing the monster round the bend and promptly dropping everything, soiling themselves and running around screaming with flailing muppet arms. It's even funnier than that, cause these ballsy dwarves when told to attack the giant cyclops, just decide to drop their weapons, B-line to it and proceed to punch and kick it to death, come back and pick up their weapons again! xD

They brought their own weapons. When you have them join a military and activate the squad they are queued up to grab the military weapons assigned, not their personal weapons. So they drop them and once done go back and pick them up after dropping off their military weapons. What you can do is, look at the the weapon in their inventory and in the weapon menu in the uniform, assign them their personal weapon. You can do this to also assign people artifacts for their uniform, but only uniform items. Like you can assign a HELM item but not a head item like a turban or frilly wool whatever.
