Setting up rooms for rent in Steam version?
Hi all,

Hoping for a little bit of help, please!

I have a tavern and what should be inn set up. The tavern and the adjoining rooms are all one tavern/inn zone. As I recall in classic, all you had to do was select a door for an inn room and set a price to stay there, and you'd get guests who might or might not become residents. That does not seem to be the process here, or not exactly.

Am I doing something wrong beyond just putting these rooms as part of the tavern/inn zone? Looking at the zone, it says there are zero rented rooms of zero total, so I'd say it's not registering. The dwarves are just using it as extended space to tell stories and drink. Not my aim! :) The tavern is set to accept all visitors, yet I've never had any and am a baron at this point.

Tips appreciated. The new UI, while vastly easier to use in most cases, still confuses me now and again. I did try overlapping a bedroom zone onto the inn rooms, but that didn't fly. I've also tried removing the rooms from the tavern zone, adding just the doors to the zone, and adding the doors and beds to the zone. At one point, I did show one total room, but no idea how I got that and I've since done something to make it vanish!

Based on what the Wiki said, economy is disabled for the current version is what allows the dwarfs to do something like Rimworld Hospitality Mod, so it is impossible for us to get paid for serving them drinks and lodging for the moment, the only real benefit you get from taverns now is just visitors that'll help you agaisnt sieges if the enemies go through them first

And entertainers, I know I keep getting requests over and over for bards to join the fort, if I accepted them all I'd have nothing but bards xD

I would be happy just to get visitors who might occasionally petition to join, so that I can have a more diverse fort (I find that fun). So, I'd still like to puzzle this out even if they don't have to pay to be guests.

You can still get guests who petition to join without guest rooms. What I've been doing is making the rooms, then just manually assigning them to visitors as needed

you click on the assign new zone button in the bedroom and link it to the tavern problem is if your dwarfs not all have a personal room the wil rent it too.
