Report a translation problem
To be clear, I have not tested this, just throwing an idea out there.
It's affecting it's stats only when the dwarf fights with it.
EDIT : Now you could as well go int dorf's info sheet, click on "items" click on it's tool on that list, and forbid that tool. He will drop it and go pick an other when needed.
If you do so, make sure you smelt the unwanted metals ones or you all forbid lesser metals tools.
Just so you know, the same is true for anvils. Save your money/points and stick to the iron.
