Dwarf Fortress

Dwarf Fortress

need a bins off by default mod
I know the answer is usually "don't craft any bins at all" but I really do prefer to have them for the ton of crafts I make, but that is the ONLY thing I want to give bins, heck I almost wish I could create a separate type of storage container, a crate or something to ship off this stuff and not muddy my fortresses supplies up.

You can set max barrel and bin quantity in settings, so could make a pile just for finished goods you are making and only let bins go there.

I think it's bugged. I tried this but some random stockpiles would randomly reset my max bins count up from 0 to another number. Very annoying bug.

It resets whenever you click the "custom" button.

It's a bug in the Steam version.

That is good to know.

I had been wondering if it was really Premium only, or just .50 in general. I downloaded and started a game with classic version and yes indeed, it does seem to be premium only. I started an 'all' stockpile. Set barrels and bins both down to 15 each. Then customized the stockpile. Left the menu. Went back in, checked it and it was still good. Did that more than a few times, with multiple customizations and never did it reset the bins or barrels.

So, it does kinda seem good that it really is different, at least that seems to imply it isn't intentional!

Eh, I doubt they would do something like this intentionally.

I like bins. They save stockpile space. Just wish I could build rock bins to cut down the wood usage.

What I'd like is the Ability to downsize stockpiles the way you can zones. For those times you have a 4x4 stockpile and it only needs to be 2x2.

You can do that already...

You can also make a stockpile of any shape. Here's a chicken-shaped stockpile:

When you open the resize tool as if you were going to make the stockpile bigger... look down above the normal mining area, you will see another menu bar has opened. You'll find the eraser tool in there for shrinking zones.

Yep, any shape, you can even have non-touching areas still be "one" stockpile.

The issue is that bins cause kerfuffles in forts regularly, lots of cancelled jobs over two dwarfs wanting the same object in bins, don't know why it happens but its been a thing for a while, cups, arrows, etc for me the only use for bins is for shipping them off to lands beyond filled with useless trinkets.

Thanks, everybody! Can't believe I didn't see that toolbar pop up. Like Granddad said, "One of those times you wish you had three legs, so you could walk with two and kick yourself with the third one."

Haha, that's an awesome granddad saying

If I didn't use bins the blocks I produce would overwhelm any kind of stockpile.
It would be nice to see the dwarfs be able to access stuff in bins and just fix the issue, i would like to see more info some times when looking at objects in the stocks menu but as i see how its gone in the past over theses things i guess i will just wait along with the rest , :steamsalty::2016watermelon:
