It's called PerfectWorld. I used it in the past and based on my short research it still works with Steam. I have it installed and I ran it to gen some history and it worked. During my research on how to use the program I found settings I wanted and haven't messed with it again, so you'll have to figure out how to use it.
I haven't painted a world in probably 10 years, but I remember it being less hard than building a functioning militia. (Old DF was a real pain). It's all about temps and heightmaps.
Avoid extremes, soft changes. Spend a lot of time waiting on history.
Perhaps i will try Better worlds in the future.Advanced world generation is complex enough.First i have to learn this :)
Hey, Can you help me with this? Because in the OP in that thread PerfectWorldDF says you also need to d/l that other link he posts with an XML file and put it next to PerfectWorldDF(?) in the same folder?
For the life of me I can't parse what they're instructing or how to get PerfectWorldDF's output to be at all intelligible to SteamDF.
Hi, it goes in the same directory as PF. Like I said though, I haven't tried to do any worldpainting. I only used it for worldgen parameters.
If you look at the last page of comments, you'll see the same question, with a screen cap. It goes in the folder in the screen cap.
Thanks much,
and that allows PerfectWorldDF to output a textfile DF can read? Or does it automatically update the game's logs?
For instance, let's say you want a mountain range 3 tiles wide running North to South with really high elevation. You use the elevation page with the paint brush to paint high elevation, and Perfectworld converts what you painted to the parameters. It takes some time and effort to use, but I had some fun with it.
