Dual Wielding?

Can I have a dwarf dual wield? For example, if I gave him two shields would he actually use both of them or would it be the same as just having one shield and no weapon?

AFAIK, he would use both shields, one in each hand, and would only bash with them.

This is more interesting with animal creatures like antman which have more arms. The game will only use the best attack move for one weapon while attacking, but all other arms will be defending adding defense. This is why antman have 1 weapon and 5 shields (best case) - there is only one other creature the hydra with 7 heads which can attack all at once but this behavior was never implemented for other creatures

I read a really great Dorf Story about an antman filled with shields awhile back ago. GREAT stuff.

That's the kind of rng stuff that really attracts curious players to DF.
