Prisoner's ?? !!

Can anyone explain how to assign a prisoner to a cage or chain/rope in the jail?

i tried making a small pasture in my jail area/zone with a chain in it...doesnt work, goblin just gets set free there.. and when i click on a cage or chain/rope in my jail there is no assign button like other guides show.

Install/Construct the chain where you want it. You have to Forge it, first, btw, and have it in a viable Stockpile.

Click on it.

I have a bunch of cells with chains and cage's already pre-placed.

yeah i have many chains and cages, and clicking on it doesn't give any option for assigning a prisoner.

If you have it in a dungeon zone then dwarves will automatically put all of the law breaking citizens in there, if you want to chain a caged creatures then you just need to place the chain and assign it outside of the dungeon zone and if you want to place a cage that has a creature in it just place it like any other furniture.

"Build" the the Cage in a Dungeon Zone... Like a Bed or any Furiture. Click on it and there is a "ADD Animal" sign - Chose Prisoner and wait... BTW you can put Dozens of them into 1 Cage.

You don't use a pasture you use a dungeon zone. Chains/ropes and cages are placed like buildings, under the restraints section.
