Question about quantum stockpiles
Hello there. I created metal bar quantum stockpile for my forges but it is working only partially. Dwarves are bringing in whole bins of metal instead of individual metal bars to the minecart, they kick it and then they bring those bins full of metal from the quantum stockpile back to the original metal bar stockpile.
This doesn't happen for my other quantum stockpiles that uses raw resources.
I tried disabling taking stuff from the quantum metal bar stockpile or increase number of allowed bins but it always stays at 1.

Try setting allowed bins to 0 on both quantum and source stockpiles

Indeed.
Also do not forget to change the number of barrels and bins back to 0 each time you adjust the stockpile in size or filters.

Posting here, looking for help:

I've tried several different Quantum Stockpile Tutorials. None of them work, fully, for me. The best that I can do is get them to dump the items in one 1x1 Stockpile.

But, no Workshop/Order appears to be able to "See" those items.

I've been trying to set a Bauxite stockpile to use to make Bauxite Bricks. The BEST I've been able to achieve is to feed Bauxite from one feeder stockpile to the Cart and then into the Receiving 1x1 stockpile. But... the Manager/Order system doesn't even see the Bauxite in the Feeder stockpile, now, much less the pile in the receiving stockpile.

What is a common thing that a DF vet would "assume" a guide/tute viewer would do, but that they don't often even think about anymore? That's all I can think of as I keep going through these things and doing exactly what the presenter does, to no useful effect.

I've tried BlindIRL, Teemo, Furtherreading, Twisted Logic (IIRC)...

What is the definitive method?

What must a Quantum Stockpile avoid, not have, or avoid antagonizing? :)

And, not a pre-Premium guide, since those have many mentions of things that just aren't in the Steam version as well as hotkeys/etc...

I made a quick video going over the steps.

First I setup a stockpile that's appropriate for the items. This is important, otherwise dwarfs will try to haul the items away if they aren't stockpiled. You could avoid this by not using any stockpiles for those items, or using links etc.

Then I create a dump zone over the stockpile. 1x1 is perfectly fine.

Not shown in the video, but you want to pause any other dump zones so dwarfs haul items only where you want.

Designate the items for dumping, it doesn't matter if they're in a stockpile or not. I use a small stockpile to automatically bring items close to the dump zone, then I pile it all on one tile.

After the items are hauled to a dump zone, they're automatically marked as forbidden. You need to unforbid them before dwarfs can use them.

That's a Quantum Dump Stockpile, right? An alternative sort of quantum stockpile. The downside being it requires interaction? What I was looking at was more of the minecart stop, that requires no supervision/interaction after construction.

BUT, thanks a bunch for making that vid! You should add it to a Workshop guide!

PS: I'll probably use this for some quick cleanup, though. :)
