Do people still do succession games?

Been reading the classics, and it looks like a lot of fun. Figured I'd see how the winds are blowing. If anyone's interested in doing this, we can hammer out some rules, decide on mods (or not) and make some new stories. I'm probably going to pass out after this post, but I'll be checking back. Anyone down to create some new legends... or dismal failures. I'm down for either.

Consider asking at the bay12 forums, they have a whole section for succession games.

I don't think they're very popular overall, only that a small amount of the community does it.
But sure, there are those who does it and as Bralbaard said, you should be able to find some on the Bay12 forums, the DF discord or even here.

They are slow going and it may take a number of weeks before the turn gets to you. That may be a different pace from what the gaming crowd is used to. However as the OP has noted, the greatest classic DF stories are succession games. Here is the link to the community games[www.bay12forums.com] forum section at bay12. For those not familiar, the hall of legends has links to many classic stories, be prepared to read some ascii.

yeah some of those stories were pretty cool, I don't mind things taking their time, I used to play civ succession games back in the day... and god those were a slog. Reading all those old stories got me feeling nostalgic, and kinda sad I missed out on that particular slice of internet history. Maybe the steam release will breathe some new life into it.

You might want to wait to start such a project until a few more bug fix patches come through. But I am up for it either way.

We've been doing them on a French forum. First fort ended with weredeer attacks. The few remaining dwarves, all infected, eventually died, either killing each other or murdered by ghosts. Second one is still going. Dwarves doing their best to survive the dreaded birds. A few medium-sized projects. Pretty fun.
