Uh...
See, I thought I was just having a moment or two, maybe playing a bit too long in a session? Maybe just having a brain fart? But, I could have sworn I heard the same thing, too.
You guys have me paranoid, now - I'm going to be cranking up the ambient volume and paying far too much attention to it. :)
It's like a Bigfoot sighting, but with ambient game noises!
This is most definitely road traffic, it's the sound of long distance traffic like if you're living on a quiet street but have a busier collector road a few blocks away and the sound from it is echoing between the buildings making its way to you... it's a lot quieter than the sound of the rustling of trees and such but because I don't have traffic near me and the rest of the noises around me are being blocked by my noise cancelling headphones, playing DF now and suddenly having background traffic ambient noises down my ears really stuck out like a sore thumb.
Seems directly included in certain surface ambient tracks, not just a audio layer being included but actually part of one or more of the ambient nature tracks itself.
Really?? lol i thought i was going nuts lastnight, the amount of times i checked my phone. Then i realised is it in the game???...lol funny . ill see if i can hear it later and see what track is playing
Can just make out the added audio 'depth' of distant traffic coming through as a back layer to the track, most noticeable around the 23 second mark.
Forest.ogg
Around the 1:11 mark. Not sure if it's road traffic or something flying overhead, but there's definitely some kind of distant engine sound suddenly being picked up in the track)
Neutral Winds.ogg
The most prominent example by far. Basically constant distant road traffic sounds throughout the entire track, and not even subtle. Like you can hear vans and all sorts under the wind layer.
Thunderstorm.ogg
Frequent road traffic picked up subtly behind the sound of the rolling thunder. But definitely noticeable as the thunder picks up and dies down.
Will browse more tracks and add to the list as more are found
I know that not everyone can afford a nice studio. I know that because my brother-in-law built one in his house and he dumped quite a bit on it. (Never did anything worthwhile with it, though. But, that's not surprising...)
But, traffic noises? Cell-phones? Open mic night or something?
Hey, I really like the music. But... is someone's pet cockatiel gonna start squawking in my face? At least I don't play with headphones, so my tinnitus probably drones out the higher end anbients. :)
PS: Thanks, Tikigod, for your work at ensuring I don't have a heart attack if I hear a truck speeding towards me.
I wonder if this was Kitfox or Tarn/Zach stuff up? I'm tipping the former.
No
lol
