Random hostile map necros may show up with an undead army though.
If you embark somewhere with no undead you'll never see one, game doesnt force the !FUN! on you, you have to go to the !FUN!.
I had an ettin attack my fort, it was quickly dispatched by a couple of professional axedwarves in a few attacks.
Then a necro got attacked by a raven, revived the ettin, which proceeded to kill the necromancer, and then wiped out 5 full military squads with different weapons.
Or get a Necromancer Mechanic in a migrant wave (he is currently acting as my bar keeper. Nice guy.)
Sword = a little stabby + a little choppy
Pick = very stabby + some choppy
Axe = choppy
Mace = big smash
War hammer = small (but more powerful) smash
