How can I get my hammerer to execute a convicted criminal?
I have someone convicted of multiple murders (vampire). I have him chained in a dungeon, and I have a hammerer assigned, but he won't actually do anything about it.

And yes, I know you can do other things with vampires, but that's not the question I'm asking.

What punishment does the Investigation say will be doled out? (It should say, right?)

What does the Hammerer's task say they're going? You have a Dungeon Keeper around too, right?

I'm not sure honestly. You might have luck removing all forms of confinement, then the only option would be hammering. If you forbid all but silver war hammers, and your hammerer is actually skilled with the weapon, it might be fatal.

In my experience, the harder ask is how to get one's hammerer not to execute a convicted criminal. I only selectively use guilty verdicts to deliver capital punishment to dwarves who destroy buildings so the prick doesn't decimate a third of my city.

If you have a hammerer, mayor, or guard captain/sheriff who's particularly merciful or otherwise soft-hearted, the sentence won't always be a hammering.
Build a bridge above a giant pit (preferable with magma at the bottom)
Wait until he gets freed
Assign him to a burrow on the bridge
Drop him
ded
build slab to make sure his ghost doesn't come back

Well a super light hammer helps, spoilers and I think featherwood is second best?
