Dwarves mysteriously dying near the hospital?
This has been going on for months. Every time I take my eye off the hospital any dwarves near it or in it seem to die. Including those who work there. After some investigating it says one of my sick dwarves was diagnosed with "beast sickness". And ever since then I have noticed piles of white "forgotten beast frozen extract" appearing randomly inside and outside my fort. Near wells, on the beach, etc.

I've killed any forgotten beasts that have appeared and the last one that arrived was over a year ago so I don't know how to get rid of these stains that are apparently killing my dwarves. And that's just my best guess it could be something completely different. I've lost around 45 dwarves to this and counting.

Sounds like the excretion of one of the forgotten beasts was highly toxic and due to temperature, froze, creating a permanent source of toxicity for your dwarves. Cleaning it is likely near impossible, so your option is quarantine, you'll have to seal off literally any area with the toxic frozen goo and rebuild.

according to post above, unless you have about like 80 dwarves, i'd count that fort done and make new one. personally at least, don't have time to fiddle with that but maybe it is manageable.

They can step in poisonous stuff and carry it around.

I guess there is a lot of it at the hospital, because dwarves witht the poisonous stuff on them end up on hospital so a lot of it is left there.

Check your well water and source to see if its contaminated. You can filter it through a pump or by creating an Aquifer and drawing the water through that.

Thank you all for the help, I'm gonna try and isolate these stains and build a new hospital far away near a new water source.

are some FB syndromes where Dwarfs will explode from pus before they can even get to the hospital.

If you have pools of it on floor.. restrict traffic on it asap. forbid anything on the tile.

The above is all correct. I want to add one important consideration for quarantine: Cats and children may run around and step into toxic slime/blood/dust/whatever, then drag the contaminant through the fortress. Urgently wall off or lock any contaminated area until you have a careful plan for how to deal with it.
