Caged animals not appearing on lists?

I have two caged birds that i bought from a Merchant and cannot release them... is that normal?

I also have a cage Giant Cardinal that was hostile and ive trained to being Tame. This also doesnt appear on any list.

They dont appear on the Pen/Pasture list or even the Pets/Livestock list under Creatures. Are these creatures designed to remain caged?

Im guessing the only thing i can do with them is place the cage somewhere in my Fortress?

Sounds like maybe some kind of bug with exotic pets? Try placing the cage and then releasing them that way, or maybe setting up a pit and seeing if they show up for that list?

I think vermin creatures are treated differently... but Pet creatures should appear on these lists i think.
