On the one hand I want to drain the pond to see if that'll free him, on the other hand, he seems to be happy there.
True at first he was using a water runoff I made as sorta endless pool, just swimming in the same place. I tried to make sure he could get out but he had many ways I am unsure how he remained so tireless and able to withstand the freezing of the water!
Maybe if he threw himself into a pond of ale instead he might have survived
I've had a frozen ghouls "Administrator" from a Dwarf Necromancer Tower hanging around at the far edge of my map for months, now. His arrival coincided with a plot to steal an artifact by the same civilization. I thwarted the first attempt when the thief dropped the artifact to avoid detection as they attempted to make their escape. I didn't thwart the second attempt, though, and whoever was involved escaped undetected.
I don't know why he's still there. I've read that some Roles/Jobs that they could have had in the past could affect their behavior once they arrive on one's live map, but am unsure how to solve for that or how to troubleshoot for that.
Do you have all the regular "Zones," like Meeting Zones, Guilds, Temples, etc and have all your Nobles that require it at least assigned to Offices?
This sounds somewhat similar to my experience. This seem to have started when there was a plot to steal an artifact while at the same time I was visited by barons and baronesses, 6 of which turned out to be weremonsters. They transformmed as a huge group was in a really popular temple I had made. Since then ive had those weird people hanging around the edge of the map. I think I screwed up by killing some of them (testing what they were made of) because I still have those people coming around but im starting to have huge deadly brawls too.
Yes I try to make sure to implement any details needed for an area. Nobles have offices, dining hall, & furniture requirements.
I discovered the exiled people had stripped naked and were standing on the edge of the map together. Then, when a cyclops invaded, it attacked the naked crew of 20 or so... and died. It killed only one exiled being. Really weird.
The naked crew is still standing there waiting for the next invasion.
Those are agents, specifically of the 'Hang around just at the border of the map and wait for an accomplice to hand off a stolen artifact' variety. Dwarves corrupted by foreign agents will take artifacts they steal and head directly to the edge of the map to hand them off before returning to work.
Normally, the agent they hand off to is always offscreen - you don't normally see them. With how army/foot-traffic on the world map is handled now though, I think what's happen is the agents are arriving one tile off from where they're supposed to be, actually winding up on your map rather than just out of sight offscreen.
I would suggest taking a look at their equipment to see if they are carrying anything interesting, and then perhaps interrogating them with your Captain of the Guard.
It's some sort of a glitch. They want to leave but somehow the game doesn't let them.
I haven't tried, but maybe i's possible to shake them out of it, either by them getting attacked, you could release something aggressive and harmless next to them.
Killing them is also an option - it's probably best for you to get rid of them.
It's super odd the guy survived being in frozen ice. It's usually instantly lethal even for very powerful beings.
