Possessed and stuck
One of my masons got strange mood and got stuck in claimed workshop. He got a few rocks and now stands there sulking about "cloth... thread..."
I do have some pigtail thread in stockpile, but that oaf doesn't seem to fancy it much... Does it mean I need other material for threads or is he just bugged out?

Sounds like he wants something specific yeah.
One time I had one bugging out in his workshop. The dwarf had no dynamic info on the workshop screen where the text loop usually plays. In the thought/text balloon over his head there was a X~ symbol flickering very fast over his strange mood symbol.
I just reloaded.

Dwarf might need spider silk cloth or thread. If dwarf got possessed now, you have got some time to get the materials (my dwarves go crazy usually after a season or more of useless waiting)

I had a similar situation

The dwarf may need a different item before they can collect the thread

The muttering plays out in the order that the dwarf needs to collect the items

You can check what they have already by clicking on the workshop

In my case my dwarf needed more uncut gems. My muttering for the gems was coming up before and after some metal blocks that had been collected

They needed 4 and I only had 3

TL:DR Your dwarf might need more of an existing resource before it can collect the thread

Well that explains some things.. my own worker kept talking about skeletons and gems until he went crazy and got his throat bit out by a Dwarf child..

Try obtaining silk and yarn cloth and if that doesn't work my last guess is they have a preference for a certain type in the preference tab, though I don't recall if they will reject their non preferred types or not for a mood if none is available so that's not reliable advice.

Also if you have the standing order to use only dyed cloth, I'm not sure if that will prevent a moody dwarf from grabbing undyed cloth.

Most likely it's because the cloth demands are split between silk, yarn, and plant cloth IIRC. A way in the future to avoid this is forbid a few of each type ahead of time so you can use the rest without further management, and unforbid them if a moody dwarf is demanding cloth.

That's useful in general for moods in categories of items that are easy to deplete entirely by setting a workshop to manager orders or repeat orders.

XD should have walled him in,

the child must be traumatised by eating a person.... how terrible for them XD

also, did he have a skeleton?
he'd probably need a freshly butchered animal for that

No it was the first time I came across this situation. I haven't really looked any guides up and had no idea what was happening :zaglol:. The child's fine but a passing adult was seriously traumatized and has been suffering from depression since it happened.. he didn't know the people involved very well either :gorlak:
