Messeger not traveling after my dwarfs took over a Town?

So i used 2/3 of my military to take over a town and i knew you could send a little bit Later an Messenger to order them back.
I do have that Option but my messengers will to anything else but leave...i realy dont know what to do :/

Just making sure, you did tick the checkboxes for choosing a specific messenger on the mission screen?

Yes, i tried a Single and two messengers and i checked every dwarf they should order back. But it doesnt help

Disable all labor for the messager. They prioritise hauling over doing their actual job.

yeah.. this. Usually you only need to click the green specialization to red. Long story short, tasks are assigned based on priority and distance. And if the messenger has a LONG way to go to get to the map edge they will get assigned other tasks that are closer.
