Dwarf Fortress

Manager stopped approving Work orders
They have an office, and I removed all labors from them. They are also my bookkeeper if that affects anything. Temporarily demoted them, didn't help.

Bookkeepers are often busy taking stock of things. I'd recomend you have a dedicated bookkeper, but you can get away with multiple jobs in smaller forts.

But if you must, in the nobles screen you can set the labor priority for bookkeping. I don't know exactly how it works since only earthworking related jobs can have a priority set, but I'd guess priority 3 would split the bookie's workflow evenly.

You already checked they have an office, which is the first troubleshooting step. Other things to consider: are they assigned to a burrow (and if so, is their office in said burrow), and are they assigned to an active military squad.

No burrows or military assignments. I made a different dwarf the manager and its working again, I guess bookkeeper job was keeping them too busy or something.

Sometimes they'll get delayed hauling a really heavy item somewhere or something, just wait it out, or replace them if you're impatient.

As previous comments have stated, they might be busy doing other jobs. But in general dwarfs that has been assigned to bookkeeping and management, they tend to prioritize those over anything else.

That being said I've had problem where they stopped doing manager job after I changed/modified their office/bedroom (if you have assigned them to same room). After I deleted the office zone completely and remade it fresh, that fixed the problem for me.

I'm using df hack and I think the priority option messes with it

I've been running into the same problem. Sometimes a manager will randomly just stop approving new tasks. They aren't busy (because I've made sure they're not allowed to do any other jobs), or in a burrow, or in the military. They just refuse to go into their office and would rather be idle than approve manager tasks.

After all the testing I've done to get my manager to approve tasks, the only think I can think of is that there's some kind of limit to how many tasks a Manager can handle per level of Organisation skill.
