I was told by my mother that as an infant, I behaved very differently compared to my brothers; or other infants. Almost never cried, was very quite. Had very little interest in people.
Years later I was diagnosed with autism, and my mother describing my behavior as an infant was part of the diagnosis.

Don't get me wrong, I don't want to make excuses for game mechanics that still lack features nor do I believe that our personality is fixed after birth. But I do think there is some credibility to the idea that even infants have different "personalities".
That would certainly be possible that certain traits are hereditary along with environmental factors determine something.
Let's just assume it's a fantasy assumption of the baby dwarf's personality because we don't know the real game dwarf.
His vision is to have a child develop its personality as it matures.
It's on the roadmap together with a zillion other things.
That's a good development in DF though , because personality also develops with age.
Who knows when it will be further developed in DF ?
Research shows that personality can change over the life course as a result of life events.
