I wonder if that's it (almost positive it's not). Does this mean I need to make one barracks line to target for each dwarf and set them individually? That's what it sounds like to me.
Sorry, who is Lux and what did they say was the solution?
All of my archers are using it without a problem now.
This is no longer true in the Steam version. Here's a vid where you can seeing it all working properly, even when multiple targets are in the same Archery Training area:

Note: This should help you create viable training areas from start to finish.
Make sure you don't have Hunters, Miners, or Woodcutters assigned to your Military Squads - The Uniform mechanics often get them confused as those roles/jobs have a sort of "uniform" requirement too. (Crossbow, Pick, Axe)
