2. There's the type that hates the living (totally unintelligent) and then there's the lieutenants or experiments. Those don't have to be hostile.
The former will leave once you slap them hard enough.
The latter, if friendly, are visitors and have a timer running until they go home.
Sounds like theyre already there, ideally you prepare beforehand but.
Cage traps. Cage traps, and a ton of em. Ideally you just cage them, and never fight them. Then I drop them down 10 levels onto iron upright spikes and forget about them.
Writhing pile of flesh moment.
Other mistake was a hole in my outside wall. I can lock everyone in but they still roam right over my head.
Only positive - I have been saving every month but I hate doing a whole month over .....then again like you all said. Traps traps traps traps ....maybe rush wall up.
Well whatever you do don't fight them in melee except as a last resort and if you do you better use only hammers. Idk where you embarked or if theres a necromancer here but you need blunt to stop everything you cut reanimating.
if you are stuck inside of a fort, and theyre locked out, start crafting cages if possible and then construct an airlock inside your base and then unlock the doors and bait them in in waves or whatever, so that like 5 get caught and then you kill the stragglers, this is easily done with walls, cage traps, and doors. and even easier if you have a door outside you can micro to forbid to cut their group in half once they start descending.
I dunno what your situation looks like but that's just an idea. It's never over till it's over, with a properly fed/production fort and a good door ♥♥♥♥ outside can ♥♥♥♥ off for years
AND .....
its year 2 and first invade lol. My luck.
So I tested this a few times. If I fight 2 of them naked 30 military dorfs die. Might just reload a month earlier.
If not, check the world map to see if there's a Necromancer tower near your embark zone.
