How to assign ammo for training?
In classic DF you can assign ammo for combat or training so you don't waste good ammo on training, can anyone tell me how to do that on the steam version please? It doesn't seem to be on the equip or schedule screens as far as I can tell

In Steam version you can't at the moment, it is a well known bug. The only way to do so is to assign default "archer" uniform. If you deleted it - press F...

I accidentally deleted mine and had no issue building a new one. I believe the default is to train with wooden bolts. Someone theorized that designing the new uniform and then immediately assigning while the window is still open might be the culprit.

1) I was assigning my own archer uniform and it worked.
2) You can dig 1x1 channels infront of your Placed Archery Targets and all bolts will drop there, instead of breaking on impact. You no longer need Wooden/Bone bolts.

How did you get it to work on your own uniform? It won't work for me. Only just got it on Steam, this is kinda my only sticking point.

To do what?
I have default "archer" uniform assigned to marksdwarf squad, still no option to set training ammo anywhere.

I just set my steel bolts to forbidden so they only use the wooden ones.

For your archery zones, you can make a little trench in front of the archery targets for the bolts to drop down to, then they won't get destroyed, and you can just use any bolts for training. Just make a little path from the trench to an ammo stockpile behind the training zone for haulers to move the bolts.

I still have plenty of other marks dwarf issues unfortunately. Like trying to get them to reload from stockpiles nearest to combat zones rather than halfway across the fort...

they use it automatically no? I will try it out tomorrow, but from what I remember, dwarves use bone/wood arrows for training, if available.
