AHHH so simple! thanks
Do you know of a good link/info regarding the Campaign Map/World mechanics as far as sending out attacks and missions and the like?
I've got some undead that need to be re-deaded and gobbies that have gotten too big for their breaches... But, I have no clue about the mechanics, how many dorfs to send, how the results are determined and all those sorts of bits. :(
(Will scour the wiki, but I'm not sure how revealing it's going to be for my planning efforts.)
There are a few things that in my opinion are considered in the world map to make a success
I'm pretty sure the squad leader of each squad has to leave the map with the squad for the for them to come back (I think I'm pretty sure I'm not 100% on that though)
One is the size of the creature, there's a cut off where if the creature is so big it will never fail a mission ever (*fairly sure*)it will go and it will come back every time, every time. It might not succeed in the mission but it will return. (Test this make a creature with 99999999 body size and send it naked by itself into the world map.) It's funny but if you think about it if you're as big as a skyscraper it would probably be pretty hard to get lost lol
And the other thing that I noticed that detrimentally affects world map mechanics is the equipment that you send with your people if you send them equipmentless naked they will not come back, you send them fully equipped there's a good chance that they'll come back.
And lastly I believe that the skills that the creatures have in your squads also plays a small part their skills their fighting their throwing all that stuff.
Ex: you send squads of naked(or ill equipped) dummies that don't know how to fight and don't know anything about war they're not going to come back.
Hope this helps.
