Dwarf Fortress

Office and study rooms seem broken, need help
How do you make a meager study? I made an office for the expedition leader, 3x3 smoothed the walls, and made nice chair, table chest armor stand, and cabinet, and still says he needs a meager study, meanwhile, my broker has a poor office with only a chair and table, and his office icon in nobles screen isnt even highlighted green like the leaders and it doesnt ask for a meager study.

Many areas of this game are quite obtuse

Not all nobles need something, a green icon means they need it and have it. Yellow means need it, have it, but it needs better quality. Red means they need it, and don't have it.

If a dwarf occupies more than one title/job, their icons will be the same for all roles and will be the icons of the most demanding role. So for example a broker doesn't need anything, but if you make your mayor also your broker, then the broker line will show needs.

He needs a personal one. To be fancy. It doesn't have to be big or well stocked, they just want to be opulent.

Thanks this was confusing as hell. Thought green meant every dwarf owned those furnitures and grey meant they didnt own a personal one yet.
