So think about this from west to east: If Z level 1 is to the west, z level 0 needs to be to the east of the ramp. You can't have both z level 1 and 0 both to the west or both to the east of the ramp square. if you do try to put both levels the same direction, your dwarves will ignore it because they can't actually take that ramp.
The Miner mined the channels going down fine, then it got stuck after a few Z levels down.
Miner got stuck there on No Job (even though there are accessible mine orders).
I tried to order him to dig ramp up making alternative path, he digs it but doesn't unstuck from same Z level.
I tried to have a flat area on every Z level (mining wall) to help him unstuck to no avail.
It's really inconsistent since that miner actually digged channels further down and left those Z levels.
I tried to channel/ramp on same row as Teemo suggested but he doesn't go up either (although that explains him not getting stuck on his lower Z).
The bug seems related to corner ramps.
While a solo channel down connects to all surrounding blocks, corner ones don't even connect to the ones they should.
