Assign him to it.
Make him butcher corpses too and he'll randomly hunt things on his own.
While you can try to figure out which one of the litany of bugs is causing this, so that you can come up with a janky work around, since the game doesn't actually tell you any information about why certain things are, or are not happening, or are or are not working, you really just get to sit there and smash your face on a wall while reading hundreds of wiki pages trying to figure it out.
It's a buggy mess mate. Love the game to death though
It's 30 dollars now :)
The non-Steam version will always be free.
The "drawback" is it has no mouse support and is limited to fanmade tilesets or classic ASCII graphics.
Still very fun if you're on a budget.
The free version does have mouse support though?
