Anything evil to do?
I have been looking to start playing this for years. I have a question about the amount of evil I can commit. Playing rimworld there was an ungodly amount of nasty I could do. Is this similar?

For instance in rimworld i could participate in cannibalism, slavery/slavetrade, organ trade/other forced surgery, drug trade, cults/ritual sacrifice, necromancy, putting heads on pikes, etc.

From what i have read, df has a kind of 'necromancy' and some interesting levertraps that can drown invaders. Is there anything else?

Here, this page might give you some inspiration, especially things like Flood the World and the Journey to the Center of the Earth: https://dwarffortresswiki.org/index.php/DF2014:Stupid_dwarf_trick

You can turn your fort necromancers or vampire (maybe both ? Does that work ?). Attack the rest of the world. Necromancers is less RNG than vampire.
You can have industries based on killing animals, but as a warning, one of them was one of the few things the Tarn brothers actually nerfed and removed. Google the mermaid farm for some gruesome event.

But yeah, that's about it. Dwarves are not evil creatures and must abide to their cultural rules. However, it's open to modding, so you can mod it and change that. Elves, for example, are cannibalistic. Goblins craft item with the bones of sentient beings and kidnap childs to raise as soldiers.

Interestingly enough, you can commit more evil in Adventure Mode than you can in Fortress Mode I believe. In Adventure Mode, you can practically hurt anyone, good or evil.

The most evil you can do in Fortress Mode I think is to trap visitors you don't like and torture them in ways such as enclosing them in small spaces and flood it, or to raid nearby "neutral" or "allied" civilizations with your militia (whether it lets you raid allies, I forgot). "evil" civilizations will send soldiers if their civilization is close to yours. I think it's possible for alliances to break or to form between each civ in your generated world, but again I'm not entirely sure.

The game has a Justice system where your Dwarves will have claims that can either be true or false on a criminal in your fortress, and it's up to the player (you) to make a conclusion on that case and find out what's really happening in your fortress. That's the beauty with this game--It doesn't always tell or show you exactly what's going on, and you may or may not catch something in the act. It's up to you to investigate your fort since in-game notifications are sometimes vague on purpose and you must try unravel stories yourself.

For example, it will tell you "a Dwarf has died and his blood was drained!" but it will not tell you it's a vampire nor which Dwarf is the vampire, you have to rely on witness accounts from the Dwarves in your fort if you didn't manage to catch it yourself.

The fun part though is that Legends Mode contains your world's history (the facts), so any information you couldn't find in Fortress or Adventure mode, will be in there.

This game is really 3 games in one (Fortress, Adventure, and Legends mode), where each mode can suck you in for many hours.
