help with evil religion
Hello I recently discovered where I could place pray-areas. So I build my firs temple and wanted to select the most popular religion. Now I discovered that the 5 main Religions are all have the topic of death torture etc.

I pretended to have a good dwarfenfortress. Can I convert them somehow ? Does it have any major consequences like zombies or demons? (just yes, no spoiler pls)
Should I flood the fortress with magma ?

There can sometimes be consequences but they are pretty limited, not the scale of the things you suggest. As far as I know at least.

Dietys are usually just flavor text as far as i know. I dont think that theyll have any major ramifications for worshipping certain gods. There arent any required rituals or things like that in the game *yet*
Just be careful of books and other artifacts (like tablets and such) that have the knowledge of life and death written on them.

On a more *serious* note, you should probably just drop lava on all of them and start a new fort in an opposing dwarven faction and go to war. The filth of the heretics stinks greatly in this realm, and they must be cleansed, Brother!

God of Death are not inherently evil. Even in ancient human civilisations, death was seen as a sort of purification, or as rebirth. Gods of Death are usually lawful protector types like Hades and Thanatos, and not simple chaotic murderers. Death is a necessary part of life, and to spiritually accept it is an important value. You'd have to find the specific gods in Legends mode to read more about their values if you're curious, but a God of Death isn't inherently evil.

Torture though I'm not so sure lol.

just don't have any of them become scribes, FUN can happen

I would just refuse to build temples of the religion i wanted to erradicate.

And i would think if u built good temples to good dieties i would guess the Migrants would be more likely to have that religion.

DF is incredibly complex so i would simply work with a real life attitude and stay alive long enough for the unwanted religion to die out ;)

Wait, can they write life and death knowledge without first being affected? I thought only specific.. 'purplish' jobs could write those.

I could see that XD
I've also heard that with the villains update, certain peeps can bring in and leave certain books behind before leaving the fort. Dont know the validity on that tho.

I think it would be pretty funny if gods cursed dwarves in fort mode for desecrating temples like they do in adventure mode.

Gods are set to have more importance in the upcoming Myth and Magic development arc.
