Can I Heal My Animals?

Sooo... One visitor at my tavern, a swordwarf, attacked one of my dogs. After that, basically my other 8 dogs came in to help the dog and killed the swordwarf. However 2 of them are seriously injured. Both have the left rear leg torn open and the left paw cut open.

Also, at the same time, a hostile dwarf was trying to enter to my fortress to steal, so i locked the doors and he fractured the leg of a horse before leaving.

So can i help and heal them, do they heal with time or i have to see them suffering until they die ? :(

Unfortunately veterinary care is not yet implemented (it is somewhere in the eventual plans for the game). So for now, they will need to heal on their own; depending on the injury that can be fairly quick, or it might never happen (severed nerves don't heal, much like most animals in real life don't regenerate from spinal cord injuries). If they are not pets of any dwarf, you can also end their suffering by sending them to the great field in the sky - the doorway is the butcher shop.

This wasn't even implemented in the free version yes.
If you want to use war animals you need badass ones, like cave dragons or giant elephants, or something a bit smaller.
Dogs and such are close to useless except to catch tiny creatures or as expendable alarm at the entrance of your fortress, even if it's something that you will take by default in your first playthrough.

ok so i was visited by a Demon Thief (he really wanted my children), hes now killed, but some of my dogs and puppies suffered rotten disease and now they spread miasma around. since i cant heal them, what do?

They will probably die soon, so it's best to assign them to a pasture far from your dwarfs.
Dust or such that "inflicts rotten flesh" are very dangerous.

DFHack has a feature/setting to allow pets to be healed the same way dwarves are.
