Weird issue - dwarf not picking up assigned weapon...
Uniform created, weapon assigned, but its still yellow with 3 dots on uniform tab in squads - why?

It might be an issue with the current paid system, but is the dwarf busy doing other things like relaxing or working?

No, I already investigated, it was removed from every job. Beside of course militia captain. Also when i choose individual weapon it is able to take spear, just specific does not work (the same for leg wear)...

Sounds like a bug to me and probably worth reporting as such then.

What it means - when the icon is yellow and has 3 dots?

Does the dwarf pick it up when the squad is activated? (Ie set to go to a specific location, or kill a creature) They do not seem to carry their stuff when off-duty and I have not found the setting to change that in the steam version yet.

I just checked - still no. It does not want to take asssigned weapons....

What kind of weapon is it? Some exotic weapons can be to large to be wielded by a dwarf. Just to be sure, check if the item is forbidden or behind a locked door.

Yes it works with some other weapons, it also does not want to take assigned trousers, weapon is some 2 h sword. Its not forbidden....

You guys may be rights, the trousers say its for humans and 2h sword seems to bee too big?

Yes that should be it. There should be a wiki page on it somewhere, but 2h swords are exotic human gear, and 2 handed for a human, and way too large for a dwarf.

Ah sorry to hear that. The 2 handed sword would not have been of help in that situation..

2H swords, great mauls, and some other larger weapons are unable to be used by dwarves. It's a longstanding bug/feature that takes into account the size of the wielder before equipping. SOME dwarves are technically big enough to wield it but the checks aren't done properly. You could always get a human or elf to wield it instead.

In dwarf fortress - NO HUMANS ALLOWED. But to be honest never seen any human there?
