Dwarf Fortress

A couple questions regarding stockpiles
I'm very new to DF, tried the ASCII version but the controls scheme and graphics turned me off, and had a few questions regarding stockpiles and how to control them.
1: Is it possible to store wood/stone in containers like Barrels or Bins?
2: How do i get my dwarfs to remove stuff that is on the floor of my stockpile but doesn't belong there? I've restricted a lot of my stockpiles to certain materials but in my booze stockpile theres like two corpses taking up a couple spots that barrels can go.
3: Is there a way to force my dwarfs to put Bins and barrels into stockpiles without using them as storage for them? Is this what the max Barrel/Bin option is for?

1)Wood and stone are meant as an intentional logistics issue. But you're supposed to use wheelbarrows and minecarts to make these easier for your dorfs.
2) By making another stockpile lol. Sometimes this one's just patience.
3) Unsure, I've never pressed that button, as the default settings satisfy me~ <3

1: If a stockpile can use barrels or bins, it will default to having them available and selected when you make the stockpile.
2: You can't ever really force your dwarves to do anything, but they will eventually get to it. The more jobs you give them, the slower they get to all jobs.
3: No and No. Dwarves won't ever put a storage bin/barrel someplace unless it has a reason to be there (to store something). The max barrel/bin just says what the most that can be there will be. Sometimes it makes sense to lower it from 1 per square, for example when using quantum stockpiling:

1:Yeah kind of figured that wood and stone didn't have a container.
2: The thing is these corpses have been there forever and a lot of my dwarves don't have anything to do. Kinda frustrating having these taking up two spots for booze barrels.
3:I have tons of empty bins sitting in my main miscellaneous stockpile while I would like them to be down in my metal stockpile to store all the ore that's sitting there waiting until i can find some coal to smelt with.

I thought my furniture stockpile is holding empty bins, could be wrong, havent watched my barrels as much.

Do you have a refuse/corpse stockpile set up outside so the dwarves actually have a place to bring the corpse? Or if they are dwarf corpses, have you built coffins and then designated them as tombs so they will be brought there?

So the finished goods and furniture stockpiles can hold empty containers if the empty container is itself a finished good or piece of furniture. Because it is being stored as itself and not being stored to hold something.

I don't but i figured that my dwarfs would at least move them outside of the stockpile since they don't belong there. No they aren't dwarf corpses iirc they are like lizard remains that just appeared there.

No, there is not impetus for them to move the bodies if they don't have a destination to move them to. Most players build a dump zone (1x1) somewhere just for this reason. Then when you have something you want moved you can just flag it for dumping and that will move the items. Later if it's something you do want, you can browse the dump pile and claim it back.
