Injured dwarves, how to rescue?
Had some goblins lay siege to my dwarfhome, and now i have some dwarves injured who can't stand on the battlefield, how do i go about rescuing them off the battlefield and nursing their injuries? I definitely don't want them bleeding out in the field!

Designate an area as a hospital, make sure there are beds (and a source of water), and have some idle dwarves to drag them back once the goblins are a few spaces away.

if you have a hospital, other dwarves will carry injured dwarves there. You can designate a hospital by creating a meeting zone, then turn it into a hospital by pressing the small button with the shield near the top of the menu (similar to how you make an inn etc). You'll then need beds in your hospital (if you don't have any, your dwarves won't get rescued). To heal your dwarves, you'll need at least a chief medical dwarf and/or a doctor in your hospital, as well as healthcare stuff (depending on the injury: thread, cloth, splints, casts, crutches, soap) as well as a chest in the hospital to store the stuff

thanks that's what i was missing, i appreciate it !
A bit of necromancy to say how vital this thread was. I was trying to figure out this very thing after my miner had his leg injured after a moose attack. Since then, he's just been standing in a puddle of his own blood.

Is there still that bug where dwarfs will collapse and lie prone at the first slight injury and wait for rescue if you have a hospital active? I'm still pausing my hospital zone before every big fight just in case...

Ahh, sorry, I just tried to hijack the thread you were necrotising. :P
Double check your hospital and suchlike. If the dwarf can't walk he'll need to be carried to the hospital, by an orderly work order.

You can look at his info to see if he has assessed wounds or trouble standing or something. Until he gets assessed by a DR he will have no injuries, look at his description.

I can't rule it out, but I haven't had any issues with my hospital open 24/7 yet (and all adults on orderly duty).

My soldiers seem to fight through injuries and wander back inside on their own, even with moderate limb or organ damage. Eventually an orderly grabs them mid-walk and takes them to the hospital. I *think* they've checked themselves in sometimes too, though I haven't really watched for it, and they've only had to deal with syndromes lately.

Hm. I think if a dwarf is unable to walk ("ability to walk lost"), we will not crawl back to the hospital on hiw own. Same for unconscious dwarves, of course and not sure about blind dwarves too.

So there are "minor" injuries which prevent a dwarf from checking in himself. But all other will walk towards the hospital, even if a severe syndrome from _deadly dust_ which makes the lungs bleed, kills them 10 tiles later.
